What plant is that?

Our lovely March Mystery Plant is a floating aquatic herb with small heart-shaped leaves attached to long stems. The leaves are green-red variegated on top and reddish-purple below. Several individual 5-parted white flowers are produced in summer and early fall from a cluster of small tubers floating near the surface. The flowers stand a few inches above the water surface – an aquatic meadow of sorts?
