Our first Mystery Plant for 2023 is a perennial herb with opposite, toothed, leaves and narrow panicles of white irregular flowers. The plants grow in a wide variety of disturbed habitats, mostly meadows and fields, and can reach 3 to 5 feet in height. The stems are hairless or nearly so, and round in cross-section. The flowers are tubular, 5-lobed and bilabiate, mostly white with purplish veins.
