This month’s Mystery Plant belongs to a common family that is an important source of pollen for bees and also the family of a common vegetable that is also a naturalized weed. This particular species is found in woodlands. This is a good month to pull out Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide and use these basic clues to narrow your search: flowers tiny and white with 5 regular parts, arranged in an umbel. Leaves fern-like, 2- to 3-times divided, but not finely divided. Now take a close look at Doug McGrady’s excellent photos of the flowers before finalizing your guess. Good luck!
