The mystery plant for April 2018 is a twining herbaceous vine with pinnately compound leaves of 3 leaflets and flowers with colorful pale purple petals. This plant has two types of flowers; the visible flowers are above ground and the second type of flowers grow underground and produce small edible fruit. The fruits produced along the above ground stem have 3 seeds and the underground fruits have only 1 seed. This plant blooms from mid-July through mid- September.
