June’s mystery plant is found growing in sandy soil or gravel.
It is a very small but attractive plant with pink to red flowers. It is much easier to find when it is in bloom and it is in bloom now as I write this clue. This small plant is usually prostrate- and the stem is 1-2” long. The leaves are opposite, linear-filiform, ½ - 2” long, and have hyaline, triangular-shaped stipules which are quite large. It has 5 pink petals and 5 reddish-purple sepals and between 6-10 stamens. This plant blooms from June through October.
