This month’s plant is an annual with alternate, odd-shaped leaves and yellow Dandelionlike flowers. The leaves are oval shaped at the tip becoming toothed or lobed with gradually smaller teeth and lobes as they progress toward the petiole. The flowering stems are topped by a single yellow flower with 10-12 rays. The leaves exude a milky juice when cut. This plant blooms from mid-June through September.
