October’s mystery plant is a climbing perennial vine with opposite, simple leaves and pink or white flowers. The flowers are in heads and are tubular in shape. Newcomb describes the flowers as “parts indistinguishable”. The leaves are heart-shaped or triangular with coarsely toothed to entire margins. This plant can be found in wet open areas or in moist woods. It blooms from August to October.
